Arts & Letters

In the mid-seventies, Delta Sigma Theta established the Arts & Letters Commission, co-chaired by notable Deltas, Leontyne Price and Lena Horne. Their mission was to support black women in the arts. In keeping with the legacy of our sorority, the Monroe Alumnae Chapter’s Arts and Letters Committee is committed to implementation of programs that represent creative expressions in performing, visual and literary arts. The performing arts is a rich part of our African American history and we strive to keep that history alive. We maintain a commitment to the National Arts and Letters Commission Initiatives and Programs by hosting a variety of events.
